A simple belief

Lykke & Lumen was created from a simple belief: rest is not a luxury, but a necessity.

In a world that moves quickly and asks much of us, we create moments that invite you to slow down - gently, intentionally, and without expectation.

Why we create

We believe in wellbeing with depth - care that supports not only the skin, but the nervous system and emotional self.

Our products are designed as everyday rituals: small, repeatable moments that bring a sense of calm, light, and return. Rituals are not about perfection. They are about presence.

What we create

We create skincare and home rituals crafted to support rest, recovery, and gentle radiance. Each product is designed to be used slowly - through touch, scent, and stillness - becoming part of a rhythm that feels nourishing rather than demanding.

Alongside our skincare, we offer ritual tools, mindful living products, and - launching July 2026 - our first collection of candles and diffusers, extending the sensory ritual into the home.

These are life's little comforts, mindfully made.

Our inspiration

Rooted in Nordic calm and influenced by French art de vivre, Lykke & Lumen brings together simplicity and sensuality, stillness and warmth. We are inspired by natural light, quiet textures, and the beauty of slowing down - at home, in the body, and in everyday life.

The name

Lykke, from Danish, speaks to happiness and contentment found in everyday moments. Lumen, from Latin, means light - a quiet brightness that guides and reassures.

Together, they express our belief that small rituals can bring calm, happiness, and light into daily life.

Meet Marie-Louise

I have spent more than thirty years in the beauty industry - and yet the brand I am most proud of is the one I created because I needed it myself.

My career took me through senior commercial leadership roles at some of the world's most respected beauty houses, including over fourteen years with Estée Lauder Companies and earlier roles with Clarins, working across skincare, fragrance and retail strategy. Beauty has been the thread running through my entire professional life.

But alongside that commercial career, I have always been drawn to the more human side of what beauty does. In 2008, I qualified as a beauty therapist and spent two years working hands-on in treatment rooms — an experience that gave me an entirely different perspective. Not just on skin, but on touch, ritual, and the way women use those moments of care as a pause in otherwise very busy lives.

The seed for Lykke & Lumen came from a deeply personal place. In December 2024, I experienced burnout. Not the kind that announces itself dramatically, but the slow, quiet kind - the kind many of us carry without fully naming it. I was exhausted in a way that sleep alone could not fix, overstimulated in a world that never quite switched off, and craving stillness I could not seem to find.

Working through my own nervous system recovery, I became acutely aware of how many people are living in that same state. Tired, depleted, emotionally stretched - and not always knowing how to create the moments of calm their bodies are quietly asking for.

After more than three decades in beauty, I felt there was a gap for something different. Not skincare built around correction or performance, but around ritual, sensory care, and the gentle act of returning to yourself. Products that were effective and beautifully made, but whose real purpose was to slow you down.

Lykke & Lumen is that brand. Inspired by my Danish heritage and brought to life through the French art de vivre I have lived alongside my husband  -  who is very much French  - it brings together Nordic calm and sensory warmth. Two cultures that both understand, in their own way, the art of living well. Rituals designed to support emotional wellbeing, not just the surface of the skin.

I created Lykke & Lumen because I needed it. And now I want to share that with others.
